ABOUT/MEET THE MAKERS

We started natural farming and harvesting forest honey after Typhoon Yolanda, when my younger sister and her family lost their small shop and almost all their material possessions. We enrolled at UP Los Banos Bee Keeping Training to learn more about bees and proper ways of  harvesting and bottling forest honey. Then fast forward to 2018, my older sister lost her job. She was an OFW in Hong Kong for almost 20 years. I advised her to take up Baking and Pastry Making in TESDA, which she did.  She started making buko pies and egg pies at home, then later on we decided to open our own small bakeshop, but, after all legal papers were done and over with, lockdowns happened and we found ourselves right in the middle of a pandemic. From March to July this year, we were not able to operate our bakeshop. It was only this August that we were able to, and then another lockdown happened, but we're still ok. Despite all the hurdles, we were able to help 5 friends have jobs and work with us in the bakeshop and 3 families to work with us at the farm. I think it is a story of hope, of joy, of perseverance, of living a simple life.
